The maintenance methods for faults in the fume hood lighting system are as follows:
Faults related to lamp tubes
If the lamp tube does not light up: First, check if the lamp tube is aged or damaged. If the lamp tube has been in use for a long time and turns black or flickers, it may be that the lamp tube's lifespan has expired and a new one needs to be replaced. When replacing, make sure that the specifications of the new lamp tube are consistent with those of the original one and operate it in accordance with the correct installation method.
Dim lighting: If the lamp tube is not damaged but the lighting is dim, it may be that the ballast has malfunctioned. The function of the ballast is to provide the appropriate voltage and current for the lamp tube. If its performance declines, it will lead to insufficient light brightness. At this point, the ballast needs to be replaced. During the replacement process, it is important to disconnect the power supply to ensure operational safety.
Circuit-related faults
Circuit connection issue: Check if the circuit connection is loose or has poor contact. The circuit connection points of the fume hood lighting system may become loose due to long-term use, vibration and other reasons, resulting in the inability of current to be transmitted normally. You can check the connection between the lamp tube and the lamp socket, the connection between the ballast and the circuit, etc. If any looseness is found, it needs to be retightened or reconnected.
Short circuit or open circuit of wires: Use professional electrician tools, such as a multimeter, to check whether there is a short circuit or open circuit in the circuit. If a short circuit in the wire is detected, it might be due to damage to the insulation layer of the wire, causing the current to form a loop directly without passing through the load. If a broken wire is found, it might be that the wire has been cut off or the connection has broken. For short circuit or open circuit problems, the damaged wires need to be repaired or replaced.
Control element failure
Damaged buttons or switches: Check whether the buttons or switches in the lighting system are aged, damaged or malfunctioning. If the button or switch malfunctions, it will result in the inability to control the on and off of the lamp tube normally. A preliminary judgment can be made by observing whether the appearance of the button or switch is damaged and whether it is elastic when pressed. If it is confirmed that the button or switch is damaged, a new one needs to be replaced.
